20 MILLION
Children with no father
THE PROBLEM
More than 20 million children live in a home without the physical presence of a father. Millions more have dads who are physically present, but emotionally absent. If it were classified as a disease, fatherlessness would be an epidemic worthy of attention as a national emergency. The impact of fatherlessness can be seen in our homes, schools, hospitals, and prisons. In short, fatherlessness is associated with almost every social ill facing our children today. The negative effects of fatherlessness on children is a reality that we all must come to grips with. Daily, we see the consequences of this epidemic play out on social media and the news. Our children are under “new age” pressures and they don’t know how to properly manage conflict.
Did you know that fatherless children are...
7X
MORE LIKELY TO BECOME PREGNANT AS A TEEN
4X
GREATER RISK OF POVERTY
2X
MORE LIKELY TO DROP OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL
THE SOLUTION
Invest in the lives of single mothers, young children, and new fathers through value-based relationships.
THROUGH EDUCATION
We not only want to educate our families on the statistics, but more importantly, we want to encourage our families not to allow the statistics to define them.
Psalm 10:14: “But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; you consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless”
WITH COMMUNITY
We believe that at the individual level and at the community level, we can support the single mothers, empower the children, and encourage new fathers and holistically improve upon the statistics across all areas. By training and equipping our volunteers to model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ we can enable healing One Day At A Time.
Isaiah 1:17: “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
